Joanna Marriott is a passionately active physiotherapist, believing that stronger is better and that living a more physically active lifestyle leads to improvements in overall wellness. She has been working as a physiotherapist in Ottawa since 2009, following graduation from Queen’s University with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy.
Her first four years as a physiotherapist were in a clinic setting with a focus on returning clients to full function through exercise, and emphasizing the role of the client and exercise in preventing future injuries. Recognizing the crucial role that exercise and strength was playing in the health of her clients, she joined the Real You team in 2013. She is committed to continually expanding her knowledge, earning her qualification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2014 and is currently working towards her Tactical Strength and Conditioning-Facilitator certification. She has also taken courses in active release technique, running injury prevention, and Stott Pilates.
In addition to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for her clients, Joanna leads by example with exercise and sport playing a huge role in her life. She is a national-level power lifter and avid runner. She also enjoys Ping-Pong, pool games and playing with her two cats.
